Advisor on Social Movement / Organizing
Yao is a PhD student in Stanford Sociology Department. Her research interests encompass social stratification, migration, political social psychology, and sociological methodology. Linking her substantive and methodological interests together is a focus on intergroup relations and social solidarity. She received her B.A. in Social Research and Public Policy from New York University Abu Dhabi in 2021. Outside of research, she is excited about community organizing, coaching lacrosse, and learning (while also quickly forgetting) new languages.
