Yilin identifies as a proud Cantonese demi-pan woman. Couple years back, she experienced confusion and isolation while exploring her sexuality and feminist ideologies in the heteronormative world. That’s why she feels immensely grateful for the opportunity to meet like-minded friends at UP Women. The passion exhibited by the community members has deeply touched her, fueling her determination to contribute wholeheartedly to the growth of this vibrant community.

Professionally, Yilin is a graduate student in experimental condensed matter physics, and is currently working on pattern formation on 2D surfaces. Her previous work involved studying of thermoelectric effect at surface boundary and constructing synthetic DNA-enzyme chimera as molecular probes.
